Programme Objectives
The ADPFM Programme intends to provide students with a focus and practical learning experience in property and facilities management so as to enhance their professional development in the specific setting of the property and facilities management environment. Students will be nurtured through all teaching and learning activities with the attitude of a servant leader.
The ADPFM Programme aims to:
- Equip students with the knowledge and vocational skills of a Property Manager as specified by the Vocational Qualification Pathway (VQP) Level 5 of Property Management.
- Enable students to apply relevant knowledge, technical and management skills, and ethical judgment in property and facilities management.
- Prepare students to pursue a managerial career in the property and facilities management industry.
Programme Intended Learning Outcomes (PILOs)
Upon successful completion of the Programme, students should be able to:
- Formulate, implement and review the management work related to environment, safety, maintenance and improvement of the building facilities.
- Coordinate the management work of various types of buildings and workplace facilities, including planning, implementation, evaluation, improvement of the management work and the provision of quality services to occupants and the community.
- Coordinate the human resources management work, including manpower planning, training, appraisal and development of staff.
- Coordinate the financial and asset management work, including procurement and tendering.
- Acquire and apply the specialized knowledge of the law for property and facilities management, including the regulatory framework and legal system, contract management, legal ordinances, and licensing requirements.
Entrance Requirements
The minimum entrance requirements of the ADPFM Programme are as follows:
- Graduates of the Professional Diploma in Property and Facilities Management from Gratia Christian College and currently employed in the facility/property management sector for at least 1 year; OR
- Any recognized QF Level 4 Diploma in Property/Facilities Management and currently employed in the facility/property management sector for at least 1 year; OR
- QF Level 4 Higher Diploma or Associate Degree in a relevant discipline (including compatible overseas qualifications), PLUS a minimum of 3 years of relevant working experience in the facility/property management sector; OR
- Any recognised QF Level 5 Diploma in a relevant discipline (including compatible overseas qualifications), PLUS a minimum of 3 years of relevant working experience in the facility/property management sector; OR
- Obtained at least 3 QF Level 4 Qualification Certificates in the Property Management Industry from the Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) scheme and pass the Chinese and English language admission tests; OR
- Mature applicants aged 21 or above when they start their course of study, PLUS a minimum of 4 years relevant recognized working experience in the facility/property management sector and pass the Chinese and English language admission tests.
* Applicants without English and/or Chinese language academic qualifications (HKDSE Level 2 or equivlant) will need to pass the English and/or Chinese language admission tests.
* All applicants must also pass the admission interview.
Graduation Requirements
In order to be eligible to graduate from the ADPFM Programme, students must fulfill all the attendance requirements not less than 80% for all courses and have:
- completed and been assessed on all courses (260 QF credits);
- obtained an overall GPA of 2.0 or above across all courses in which they were assessed;
- obtained a passing grade or above in all assessments of all courses of the Programme.
Professional Recognition
The ADPFM graduates with the required practical professional experience are eligible to apply for membership in the below-listed professional institutions.
Career Prospect
The Programme is designed to meet the demands of property and facilities management organizations and the property service sector. Graduates are qualified to take up management posts as a property management practitioner (Licenced Property Management Practitioners (Tier 1)) at the equivalent rank of Property Manager, Estate Manager, Facilities Management Manager, etc.
Further Study Opportunities for Graduates
The Programme is designed to equip students with the knowledge, skills, and academic qualifications for further study in Hong Kong and overseas. Students can apply to programmes at an advanced level related to property/facilities/housing management or other programmes such as real estate, surveying etc.
Graduates may articulate to degree programmes in Real Estate and Facilities Management such as the BSc (Hons) in Property and Asset Management (Part-time) at The Hong Kong Polytechnic University; the BBA (Hons) in Real Estate and Facilities Management at Hong Kong Metropolitan University, and the BA (Hons) in Housing Studies (Part-time) at Leeds Beckett University (U.K.) operated by AIBE.
